Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Registered Charity Number: 1129008

The Wigan Warriors Community Foundation is a charitable trust which provides the Club with the opportunity to expand and extend its already significant Community activities. As before the players and coaching staff will have a significant involvement in the work of the Foundation, freely giving up their time to support the various programmes and events.

The Foundation’s objectives are for the benefit of the public generally and, in particular, the inhabitants of Wigan Metropolitan Borough and its surrounding areas:-

1) to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of Rugby League and other sports capable of improving health.

2) to provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life.

3) to advance the education of children and young people through such means as the trustees think fit in accordance with the law of charity and

4) for the general purposes of such charitable bodies or for such other exclusively charitable purposes in each case as the trustees may from time to time decide.

Speaking about the Community Foundation, Trustee Simon Collinson said,

“We are delighted to be granted charitable status. It enables the Club to continue its innovative community work in the region and allows us to attract possible further funding from various sources to expand our community programmes. Sport has the power to change people’s lives in so many positive ways. The Wigan Warriors Community Foundation will aim to do just that via the work we do. In doing so we will introduce the club and its strong values to thousands of new people every year.”
