Over 200 high school children took party in the Wigan Warriors emerging school festival over two evenings at Wigan St Jude's ARLFC.

The festival was run as part of the young people's Leadership programme being delivered by Wigan and Leigh RLSA and Wigan and Leigh housing. JJH Builders kindly sponsored the event, providing medals for every player and trophies for the winning teams.

Emerging schools involves young people who don't play for a community club side or get the opportunity to play regularly, with some players getting their first taste of rugby league.

John Latham from Wigan & Leigh Housing said,

"It's great to see so many young people from all over the borough participate in an activity like today, the standard has been extremely high and everyone enjoyed themselves."

Tommy Gallagher, Wigan Warriors Community Coach added,

"I'd like to thank everybody who volunteered from Wigan Warriors education academy and all the teachers that helped to ensure it was a successful event. There was some fantastic rugby on show with year 10 final going to a golden point try."
