Clubb Man 2017 - 4

Hey guys,

We’ve just come off the back of a win against Widnes. I thought we started okay, but we made far too many errors, gave away too many penalties and it almost cost us. There were good bits of play from George (Williams), Tommy (Leuluai) and Budgie (Joe Burgess), which got us out of it really, but it was a very poor performance from us.

We gave our shirts away at the end of the game, just to say thank you everyone who turned up. We had around 2,000 Wigan fans make the trip, which is fantastic at such short notice and it was just our way of saying thanks. It was a big effort from the travelling support, we really felt the noise from the away end and it lifted us in a difficult game.

We’ve now got our first Super League game at the DW, against Leigh. We’re really excited, we’ve been in this week training hard, the weather hasn’t been too great but we’ve got some good stuff done. This week is our chance to put a few things right, we were nowhere near our best last week, and we don’t want to play like that. We’ve worked hard on our D and some other things across the field but the boys are excited to get back out there and make amends.

Again, the fans will be a massive help on game-day. They follow us anywhere and everywhere, and as a player it is a massive help. In the Cronulla game, we were only at 10-0 at one stage but the atmosphere was great and it really helped us press on. I’m sure it’ll be another loud one on Friday, and Leigh are sure to bring a lot of their own so the atmosphere will be amazing, a real buzz.

We’ve played Leigh a few times in the off-season and they have come up trumps on a few occasions but it’ll be a completely different game now they’re in the Super League. It is a game the boys are really looking forward to, it’s another local derby and Leigh are hungry to do well. It’s a huge game for them, especially having a few ex-warriors in the side, that’s always good. It’s just going to be a great game, a good atmosphere and hopefully another win for us.

See you Friday,
