Wigan Warriors sunk to their third defeat in the opening five games going down 34-20 against the London Broncos at Griffin Park.
London were well deserved and comfortable winners and only two late Warriors tries made the score a more respectable one. The home side were well organised and played the game at a fast pace.
Wigan took the lead on 8 minutes, Terry Newton sending Kevin Brown into a gap and the Warriors stand off drew the Broncos full back Luisi and captain Kris Radlinski was their in support to cross for the opening try, Tickle added the extras, 6-0.
The home side levelled on 23 minutes, a clever Luke Dorn grubber kick was taken by Mark Tookey and the big forward crashed over underneath the sticks, Paul Sykes was accurate with the conversion.
The Broncos made it two tries in seven minutes as Solomon Haumono stretched over with 30 minutes on the clock, Sykes kicked from out wide and London had turned round a 6-0 defecit into a 12-6 advantage.Tony Rea's men came close to adding further points on a couple of occasions. Firstly Tyrone Smith put out a great pass to Bradley-Qalilawa but the winger knocked the ball on with just a couple of minutes of the first half remaining. Then shortly after, Luisi decided to pass inches away from the try line, the ball falling into touch, had he continued the move himself he surely would have scored. London had to settle with just another two points from a Sykes penalty conversion. 14-6 at the interval.
Wigan scored the first points of the second half with a Danny Tickle penalty, London penalised for a high tackle on Jerry Seuseu.
The Broncos scored the try of the game on 54 minutes, a break by Luke Dorn and crisp handling saw Paul Sykes dive over, Sykes himself added the conversion and at 20-8 London were looking relatively comfortable. Martin Aspinwall was put on report for an alleged trip on Jon Wells with 64 minutes on the clock, Sykes converted the penalty 22-8.
Wigan were in desperate need of a try but were unable to find any spark and a quick burst attack f rom Mark McLinden sent in second row forward Lee Hopkins for the Broncos fourth try and it was game over. Sykes was spot on once more to make it 28-8. There was further misery for Wigan as Paul Sykes scored his second try of the night and made it five from five attempts to stretch the lead to 34-8.
The Warriors got their second touchdown with just three minutes left through a Stephen Wild four pointer, Tickle converted to bring Wigan into double figures. David Vaealiki scored a further Warriors try and Tickle converted but the rally was too little far too late. The game finished 34-20.
