Wigan held their weekly press conference at the JJB Stadium on Tuesday to look ahead to Friday's clash at Leigh Centurions, 8pm kick off.
With the news today of the addition of Iafeta Paleaaesina from 2006 on a three year deal. Ian was asked about the new capture and said,
"He is a player I have been monitoring for about 18 months, he’s currently the best go forward in the NRL, he will become a cult figure here at Wigan. I spoke to quite a few coaches down under and they have all said how impressive he has been. He’s not been playing long minutes with the Warriors with Ruben Wiki and Steve Price and I just feel with his age he is a fantastic signing for this club.”
Ian was also asked about Brian Carney who has been continually linked with a move to the NRL and Kris Radlinski who looks to be a target by the RFU. Ian said,
"There is a doubt over the futures of Kris Radlinski and Brian Carney. I think Brian may not be with the club, I am not 100% sure, there may be an announcement soon on that. With Kris, his situation is ongoing and we may find out for sure by the end of July because Rugby Union clubs will be back training by then."
On short term additions Ian said the club were looking around but it was proving very difficult to find any quality for the remainder of Super League X.Ian added.
"If the right person came a long we would take a look but to be honest anyone playing good is tied up and I am not going to sign someone just for the sake of it, he will have to improve us. To be honest I don't think anyone has come forward good enough."
