Over 100 kids from all over the North-West descended on Central Park this week for a fun-filled Player Camp with Blake Green, Micky McIlorum, and the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.
Day one saw the appearance of first team stars Green and McIlorum, who were keen to pass on all of their experience. After a full day of coaching, the young Wigan fans also have the opportunity to pose questions to the first team duo in person. Each participant was given the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Warriors stars along with a signed photograph.
Day two was a series of fun-filled skill sessions with a focus on handling and kicking, the Community Foundation coaches were really impressed by the high skill level on show.
Head of Community Development, Amanda Wilkinson said:
“I am really impressed with the skill on show from such young boys and girls, I’m sure we have a few future stars amongst us. It’s fantastic to see so many smiling faces, everyone is having a great time!”
Commenting on the success of the Player Camp, proud Dad, Darren Platt said:
“Benji loves coming on these Camps, we come down from Cumbria and it’s worth it for the great coaching he gets from the players and the staff from the Foundation”
