Wane On Semi-Final Win

Wane On Semi-Final Win

Wigan Warriors will face Warrington Wolves in the 2013 Grand Final at Old Trafford next Saturday following the Semi-Final success over Leeds at the DW on Friday night.

Speaking Post Match Head Coach Shaun Wane was obviously delighted,

"I am very happy, I don't think we were at our best tonight but we did enough to win the game, we need to be better next week. I don't think the week off did us any favours, we were a bit under done. The game will have done us a world of good in a tough arm wrestle and it will put us in good spirits for next week.

"I thought we defended well, we defended tough. I think we concentrated in our 'D' and when we put our plays on we picked our time. We needed to be patient and we completed at 100% in the second half. In a game like that it has made me immensley proud.

"These sort of games are always really tight, Leeds can play and defend and they have been in this situation many times as we found out last year so 6 apiece with an hour gone, but I knew if we kept patient we would get them and we did. I was just disappointed they scored late on."

Asked about the emotion of it being Sam, Pat and Lee's last game at the DW and whether he thought that might effect the side, Shaun added,

"No, I would have been disappointed if that had happened. That is something to embrace, the players that are leaving we love to bits and they have been a big part of the fabric of this Club. That is something that drove the players on to make sure we performed and it did. To score 20 points against Leeds is a great effort.

"It was a gritty performance and the kind of one you need in a Semi-Final and to do it in front of our home fans was great and we will now enjoy the week for Old Trafford."
