20 Years ago today Wigan Warriors beat Oldham Bears in the Club’s first ever Super League game.
A Wigan team that included Kris Radlinski, Martin Offiah, Shaun Edwards, Andy Farrell and Va’aiga Tuigamala ran out for the Warriors at Boundary Park, their first game of the new era of summer rugby.
Wigan had lost their fine Challenge Cup record in their previous outing to Salford and were looking to make amends. They did just that as they started the summer era in fine style running in 11 tries with Gary Connolly (3), Kris Radlinski (2), Martin Offiah (2), Shaun Edwards (2), Henry Paul and Martin Hall all crossing the whitewash in the 56-16 win.
