We take a look at the young players that debuted last season

As 2017 draws to a close and 2018 edges ever closer we take a look back on the year that was and look forward to the year ahead.

Seven Academy players made their First Team debuts in 2017. Liam Marshall debuted against Leigh in March and went on to score 23 tries in 24 games.

Liam Forsyth returned to Wigan from Bath before the start of the season and he took heritage number 1076 after playing in the 38-16 win over Warrington.

In total, Forsyth made 13 First Team appearances in 2017.

Next up, Tom Davies played and scored in the 16-all draw with Huddersfield. He would go on to play 24 games in 2017 and was later named Young Player of the Year alongside Marshall.

Under-19s Captain, Josh Ganson, came off the bench at Castleford. The young Hooker played in five Super League games during 2017.

Half-back Josh Woods got some game time, he played against Salford at the DW Stadium and again at Magic Weekend.

Callum Field was a late call-up into the side for the Challenge Cup game with Swinton. He added a further four substitute appearances to his tally.

James Worthington also featured for the First Team. The 18-year-old scored in the second minute of his debut as he bagged a brace against Wakefield Trinity.
