Aspinwall Signs For Giants
The Huddersfield Giants have signed Wigan's Martin Aspinwall on a 2-year deal. Aspinwall, an ex St. John Fisher player, was the first to turn professional from the Wigan Scholarship and Development programme. Giants new signing Martin Aspinwall said: "I’m very excited about coming here. I’ve spent the past four or five years in the Wigan first team and have some fantastic memories of my time there. There were several options available to me, but a move to the Giants really appealed. They’re clearly one of the most ambitious and progressive clubs in Super League and the thought of being a part of their future success is very exciting. This move is just the sort of challenge I need at this stage of my career, and I’ve no doubt it will advance me as a player." Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp said: "Martin will be an exciting addition to our squad. He is quick, strong and athletic and has proved himself at the highest level. At 23 Martin has got his best years ahead of him- he is a very good finisher who I am sure will give our Super League XI squad some great attacking options." Giants General Manager Richard Thewlis said: ”Martin has played all his career at the highest level and attained representative honours. I am sure his signing will delight our growing army of supporters and further demonstrate our desire to bring the very best players to the Galpharm Stadium. I would remind all supporters that season ticket sales are crucial to us being able to make signings such as Martin and that if we can expand the season ticket base then we would be in a position to strengthen even further." |
