VIDEO: Noble Previews Catalans Play-Off Clash

Wigan head to Perpignan on Saturday evening to face the Catalans Dragons in an Elimination Semi-Final Play-Off tie, 6pm kick off (UK), 7pm (France)

We caught up with Head Coach Brian Noble after training on Tuesday to look ahead to the trip to France and the tough clash against the Dragons. Brian told us,

“It’s how you approach the challenge that’s important, if you go there thinking this is a hard trip, this is a long flight or this is hot weather you come unstuck. I like to go there, It’s fantastic weather, it’s great spending time with the players and it’s a different environment but it’s a piece of grass at the end of the day where we have to play tough rugby. We will be judged what we do on the field. We are making the right noises and are preparing well."

The Dragons blew Warrington away last weekend with a 46-8 win and looked particularly powerful upfront, Noble added,

“Catalans are not small, they have some big units, we defended pretty well against Bradford but I was disappointed with the tries we let in, we will need to be as vigorous this time around because they have some big players and some skills on the fringe. Against Warrington they executed very well so we will need to me a bit more disruptive"

"It’s a great challenge for us but the players are applying themselves and they want to be successful as well. The reality for both teams is there is no more if you lose and I think we have some games left and some energy left and I am sure the French do as well and we really need to be on our game.”
