As the JJB Stadium ticket office closed for business on Friday December 29th 2006 and the Warriors ‘Early Bird’ season ticket deadline came to an end the club were very quick to praise their fans.
At 3pm some 88 tickets had to be sold to achieve the ‘9000 season ticket sold’ point for the first time since the club move to the JJB Stadium but at 5pm that figure had been passed and Sales Director Geoff Warburton was quick to praise the fans.
He said “I am so pleased at how well our fans have got behind the push to sell season tickets for engage Super League XII. The supporters of this club never cease to amaze me. To think that each and everyone of them will be getting behind Brian Noble and his team on February 9th when the season opens with the visit of Warrington Wolves to the JJB Stadium is just fantastic. I could see that we were easily going go well beyond the final total of 2006 that finished on 8212 but with us now standing at just a touch over 9000 there is every chance that we could start the season on over 9500 and with a really special effort of every fan trying to persuade someone else to get involved and join the revolution going on at the JJB Stadium we may even top that magical 10,000 mark.”
“I genuinely believe there is a ground swell of support to follow the engage Super League and Wigan Warriors are at the forefront of leading that crusade. If we could hit that magical 10,000 target I know it would be a real boost for Brian Noble and the players here at Wigan”
Match tickets go on sale next week for the home fixtures in the first half of the season and with such a ‘mouth watering’ opening game when Warrington come to town with their newly rebuilt squad bristling with talent it is a ‘MUST WATCH’ fixture and I am sure we have every chance to get over 20,000 people into the Stadium to see it live. Brian Noble and his backroom team have been working ever so hard with the squad so they ‘hit the ground running’ and this is a fabulous fixture to get all Rugby League fans talking about the expectations of the clubs for 2007.
