Barrett Expects Even Tougher Competition

Warriors superstar Trent Barrett is expecting an even tougher competition in 2008 with more Aussie's joining Super League clubs.

"The players that have come over from home (Australia) are not over the hill and are fantastc players in their prime so its going to make the competition even better" Barrett told wiganwarriors.com.

When asked to name the Warriors main competitors Barrett added, "Leeds, Bradford, St Helens. I think Warrington, with the players they've bought in the right positons, will be a lot better than where they finished in previous years and they will be hard to beat. Both Hull sides have bought well too."

"Each year the salary cap evens out the sides; it's going to be a tough competition."

The Aussie influx is also help increase the profile of Super League according to the former Green & Gold international.

"It's getting a fair bit of coverage back home (Super League). The more Aussies that come over here the more people are interested in watching their own play in a different competition".

Barrett was also raving about new Full back Richie Mathers who made his debut on Sunday.

"You can see in training that Richie loves his footie. He's a really good talker which is something that we need in the side. "
