Mathers Delighted With Debut

Richard Mathers made his Warriors debut at Widnes on Sunday and was delighted to get 60 minutes under his belt, he also scored two tries.

Speaking afterwards at the Stobart Stadium, he told us,

"The knee was just fine, not even a twinge, and I feel very confident about the future. I have been looking forward to this moment for weeks.

"I was very well prepared by the medical staff and the conditioners, so I felt just right going into that game and had no worries."

Mathers continued,

"There's nothing like the real thing to test yourself and any injuries you've had, but even the tackling and being tackled wasn't a problem. We have all been toughened up on the training pitch."

Head Coach, Brian Noble added,

"He hasn't played for a while, but we're delighted with how it all went.He didn't suffer any after-effects to the injury which is pleasing."
