Warriors Festival Visits Hawkley

Last week saw the first Wigan Warriors Tag Festival of the New Year at Hawkley Hall High School where four local schools braved the cold conditons to compete in this annual event.

The festival was attended by over 60 children who have been learning the FUNdamentals of the sport over the past six weeks through the Wigan Warriors outreach coaching programme.

The winning team on the day, St Oswald’s received the 'Warriors Festival Trophy' to commemorate their achievement while each individual took home a Warriors goodie bag. Everyone who took part in the festival was also awarded a Wigan Warriors medal and certificate.

Furthermore, Wigan Warriors star Thomas Leuluai visited the event and was on hand to sign autographs and pass on some valuable advice.

Wigan Warriors Primary Link Co-ordinater, Amanda Wilkinson commented:

"The festival was a great success and was enjoyed by all taking part. It was a pleasure to see such a lot of young people taking part in physical activity."

Community Coach, Tom Brindle added:

"Today has proved to be a tremendous success and has provided the youngsters with an opportunity to practise the skills that we have taught them over the past six weeks".
