That was certainly some welcome back to Super League action on Sunday.
Bradford, like us had been entertaining French opposition in the Challenge Cup but unfortunately they managed to get out of the blocks quicker and just take the game away from us. We played some good footy to get back into it but daft penalties at the wrong time cost us and in the end the best team on the day won.
Moving on we’re all set for Cardiff this weekend. It was a great experience last year with plenty of fans taking in the feast of rugby league on offer. They got into it and we could certainly tell that on the pitch. It’s also a great chance to spread the word in Wales about the wonderful sport that is rugby league.
Celtic Crusaders have put in application for a franchise but I’m not too sure to be honest. I’d personally rather see the RFL look after the real hot beds of rugby league like Widnes before setting up somewhere like Bridgend. Don’t get me wrong, Celtic have as much a chance as anyone, and I would understand if they got into Super League but what about clubs with such rich histories that just seem to have been forgotten?
On Sunday it’s a big game against Saints. We’re seeing it as a big game due to the fact we’ve lost 2 on the bounce in the league and if we lose we’re probably outside the six for the first time in a long time. As far as we are concerned it would be a big game whoever we are playing this weekend, we’re not concentrating on exacting revenge for Good Friday, just on getting the two points in the bag.
I’ll have to put this in here as something tells me he won’t put it in his column in the Wigan Evening Post. Mickey Higham is out of the inaugural Wigan Warriors Darts Championship after having his pants pulled down by Ronnie!! Ronnie is an older gentleman who cooks for us up at Orrell, he checked out before Mickey even checked in!! The Power is still in full force, my semi against Phil Veivers is coming up this week and I’m quietly confident.
As well as rugby and darts I also like football. I’m a Chelsea fan and cock-a-hoop after Saturday’s game. Now I’m well up for seeing us win the Premier League then the Champions League!!
Looking forward to seeing you all in Cardiff.
