JJB to Step Down as Shirt Sponsors

Wigan Warriors can today confirm that main shirt sponsors JJB Sports are stepping down at the end of the current Super League season.

JJB have been the main Club sponsor for eight years and have had their name on the front of the home and away shirt for the same period. JJB have also previously been the kit and training wear manufacturer and supplier.

The Club have commenced the process of finding a new main sponsor for 2009 season onwards and negotiations are well underway with several very interested parties.

Speaking about the news Chairman Ian Lenagan said,

"We would like to thank everyone at JJB Sports for their outstanding support of the Club over the last eight years. The current sponsorship deal is due to expire at the end of the season and has not been renewed. There is now a magnificent opportunity for a new partner to join us.

"Wigan Warriors are recognised world wide as the most famous Rugby League Club of them all and we are excited by what the Club can achieve over the next few years."

Speaking on behalf of JJB Sports, Associate Director of Replica, Colin Russell said,

"JJB Sports plc wish Wigan Warriors all the best for the rest of the current season, and we look forward in continuing our relationship with the club in the future."
