Wigan Warriors Reserves were beaten for the first time in over a year as they went down 18-22 against St Helens in the curtain raiser at the GPW Recruitment Stadium on Friday night.
The Warriors had won all their games in 2009 and led 8-0 at the interval with tries from Josh Charnley and Ian Thornley.
After the break Saints scored through Ashalt and Gaskell and with two conversions to Foster to take a 12-8 lead. A Sam Gee touchdown and Veivers goal made it 12-14 before a further Ellis try and Foster goal made it 14-18 in Saints favour.
Two Foster penalties opened up a 14-22 lead before a late Ainscough try out wide made it 18-22 and that's the way it stayed.
