Not quite a pre-Christmas present for the Players from the Coaching Staff as the squad spent three days training with the Royal Marines in Scotland.
The first team squad were put through their paces by 45 Commando and were tested both physically and mentally.
Speaking about the trip Paul Deacon told us,
" It was very very tough, it's not nice while you are going through it but it is one of those camps when you look back and have been through it the lads are a lot tougher.
"We had no idea what to expect, it was all secrecy. I had a bit of an idea after the army camp last year but we did step it up this year without a doubt. The Marines are top soldiers in their own right and we learned a lot from it."
Asked about what the players were put through, Deacs said,
" It was like one big long day to be honest, the sleep depravation was very tough, it was100 mile an hour from start to finish
"We did fire some guns, we did some team building stufff as well. I certainly think we trained like a Marine. Pre-season with Wigan is tough but you know at the end you will be fit and working hard you know you will be in good shape for the season."
