Coach Education - Its Mental

The next Wigan Warriors Coach Education session will take place at Central Park on Monday 29 June (6-8pm) with the delivery of block 2 - Mental Skills.

The evening forms part of the RFL’s Embed the Pathway Program - a coaching series supported by Gillette that aims to increase the number of quality 12-14 year-old Rugby League players through the education and training of children’s coaches.

It is the belief of the RFL Performance Department and Gillette that every young player from 12 years-old is on the England Talent Pathway. This "scheme of work" is a programme of Coach Education, Inclusive Player Profiling and 24 sessions that can be used and adapted to meet the needs of young players at any stage.

After the successful delivery of block one, Foundation Coaches Jordan James and Tommy Gallagher will introduce block two which will encompass the Mental Skills for coaches and players.

Mental Skill Topics will be -

  • Reflecting and setting goals
  • Coping with contact
  • Working Hard
  • Being honest about ability and performance

Anyone can attend this workshop, you do not have to have completed block 1 although if you are looking to become accredited then you need to complete all three blocks either here or at another partner delivery centre to become fully accredited by the RFL.

The evening will take place at Central Park, Montrose Avenue, Wigan, WN5 9XL starting at 6pm and lasting for approximately two hours.
