- Opportunities available in media, marketing, event management, TV and more
Wigan Warriors are offering the chance to volunteer with the Club.
Opportunities are available in media, marketing, event management, TV and more for people who are maybe looking at a potential career in a particular field or would just like to sample a certain job.
The Club has welcomed volunteers for many years with some of those volunteers now even working for the Club in a full-time capacity.
Warriors Marketing Director Simon Collinson said: “We’re always open to giving people experience here at Wigan and want to continue that. We tend to find that people who volunteer with us go on to do really well having had such a great learning experience with us.
“There are many success stories. For example one former volunteer is now working full time for Manchester United whilst our own Communications Executive, Tim Fisher, started out with us as a volunteer too.”
Student and Wigan fan Drew Darbyshire has volunteered with the Club on a part-time basis for the last two years alongside studying for a degree in journalism.
He said: “The experience of working in a professional environment at Wigan Warriors has helped me greatly and the opportunities I have been given are unbelievable really.
“I now regularly commentate on games and write match reports and articles for the website. Not only has it helped my confidence but it’s made me even more determined to work in journalism industry.”
People interested in volunteering with the Warriors are asked to send a copy of their CV along with a letter explaining the type of experience they wish to undertake to Simon Collinson, Marketing Director, Wigan Warriors, Central Park, Montrose Avenue, Wigan, WN5 9XL or email email@example.com.
