A great start for the Warriors saw Michelle Davis’ kick off fumbled by York, allowing Wigan a full set 20 metres out and Gemma Walsh capitalised after one-minute running through form a Claire Hall pass. Wigan 6-0 up after Michelle Davis’ conversion.
Wigan were over again in the ninth minute, a big hit from Lucy Baggaley pressured York to kick the ball dead for a scrum, Wigan took the advantage going forward and Gemma Walsh got a perfect pass away to Amanda Sibbald to cut through and score. The conversion missed this time to put Wigan 10-0 up.
York made another error with a knock on in their own half and Wigan ran it left from the scrum and Gemma Walsh got the pass away for Greenfield to spin away from her defender and go over in the corner.
Wigan came close again in the 25th minute, Walsh looping a pass over the top to the left wing but the ball was spilled over the line to let York off.
Wigan did get over again in the 29th minute though, Gemma Walsh getting her second of the match, crashing between the posts. Davis added the conversion in front of the sticks to take it to 20-0 in Wigan’s favour.
