Shearings to continue Wigan backing

Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce that Wigan based Shearings Holidays has renewed their partnership with the Club for 2019.

The move comes after a successful first year which saw Shearings branding on the back of the players shirts, around the ground at DW Stadium and the development on an ongoing relationship between the two parties.

The renewed partnership will see the iconic branding move onto the shoulders on the back of the teams playing shirt and appointed the Clubs official travel partners.

As part of the relationship, the two iconic Wigan brands will continue to work in collaboration on a number of exclusive initiatives and activations to engage with fans, staff and community members alike.

This year has seen the team and its management engage with Shearings Holiday staff through visits to the office in Wigan and a range of other activities such as the operators ‘Summer Spectacular’ staff event held at the Wigan Warriors home ground and attended by over 100 staff. The continued relationship will see even more staff and fan interaction, community engagement and collaborations between the organisations.

The largest escorted tour operator in the UK, Shearings Holidays offer a broad range of holidays and hotel breaks to more than 170 destinations across UK, Europe and Worldwide. With 114 years’ experience of planning and providing holidays and with a diverse portfolio of owned and managed UK hotels and a collection of sector leading travel brands offering holidays by Coach, Rail, River and Air, they are also the most well-established escorted holiday’s business in the industry.

Speaking on the partnership, Richard Calvert, Chief Executive Officer of Specialist Leisure Group, (parent company of Shearings) said: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Wigan Warriors. We share the same values, innovative drive for success, all underpinned by heritage and pride in the local community. We are looking forward to continuing our amazing partnership into 2019.”

Jane Atkins, Managing Director at Shearings Holidays comments: “The players and management team have been really supportive and engaged with the staff at our Wigan Head Office through regular visits and events we’ve held. Many of our staff are big fans of Wigan Warriors and being able to have some of the players visit the business and talk to our teams has been amazing. We look forward to developing the relationship further in 2019”

Wigan Warriors Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, said: “Over the last 12 months, we have worked very closely with Richard, Jane and the team at Shearings where we have established a very strong working relationship. From the moment we met and gained their support for this season, it was evident this was going to grow into a very positive partnership and we are delighted to retain their support going forward. With their Head Office around the corner from the stadium, Shearings are a proud Wigan based company with a very passionate Wigan Warriors fanbase within their workforce and importantly to us, strong community links. We look forward to building on what has been a fantastic relationship to date and providing even more opportunities for the Clubs fans and their staff.”

“As a club, we have been working very hard on developing our partnership group in line with our commercial strategy where the continued support of Specialist Leisure Group is a significant step forward. Our commercial portfolio continues to grow from strength to strength with an important balance of local, national, multi-national and global brands who all share our Club’s values, culture and ambitious plans.
