- Club shows support for Wigan Pride on Saturday 11th August
- Warriors players set to attend event
- Great day to celebrate Wigan community and inclusivity
Wigan Warriors will show their support for the LGBTQ+ community this weekend at the Wigan Pride parade in the town centre.
“Motivating, educating and inspiring our local community” is exactly what the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation strives to do, and that’s why the club is excited to be a part of Wigan Pride 2018.
Representatives from the Community Foundation and the Warriors team will be out in force to celebrate diversity in the town of Wigan. As a show of support online the club will update it’s profile to include the rainbow flag.
Speaking about the club’s involvement, the Cherry and White’s Head of Community and Marketing Martin McLoughlin said “As a club, we are proud to support health, education, social inclusion, well being and equality of opportunity.”
“At Wigan Warriors we find it important to highlight that sport is for everyone. In doing so we see Wigan Pride as the perfect place to celebrate LGBTQ rights and inclusivity in the borough of Wigan.”
“It’s brilliant to see Wigan Pride back for another year after such a successful parade in 2017 and the club cannot wait to be a part of it.”
