Wigan Warriors Community Foundation, in partnership with Houses for homes and the RFL’s England Talent Pathway programme are hosting a series of open access player development days for Under 12s – Under 16s (Year 7 to Year 11).
The programme is designed to help every athlete reach their full athletic potential, regardless of age, gender, limitation, sport or natural ability. We also work closely with our community club network to provide coaching opportunities for coaches aspiring to progress on their pathway too.
Anthony Atherton, Community Innovation Manager said: “The February sessions were very popular and saw large numbers. We are looking to build on this and ensure that a challenging and rewarding experience is had by all players. We see this as an opportunity to supplement the great work done by teachers and coaches of the players.
“The players will be taken through various activities, scenarios and movement competencies designed to cover a range of skills concluding with a skill games component. The feedback from everybody concerned with our recent development camps was fantastic and we look forward to welcoming everybody back again.”
The sessions are FREE of charge and will take place at the club’s training centre at Central Park (Montrose Avenue, WN5 9XL).
The sessions are planned for the Easter break and are as follows:
Thursday 11th April: 09:00 to 11:30 – Under-12s (Year 7) Thursday 11th April: 12:30 to 15:00 – Under-13s (Year 8) Friday 12th April: 09:00 to 11:30 – Under-14s (Year 9) Friday 12th April: 12:30 to 15:00 – Under-15/16s (Year 10/11)
