Wigan Warriors players will be joining fans in the Robin Park Arena Fan Zone this Sunday after their Betfred Super League clash against Hull FC.
The players will head over to the Robin Park Arena post-match and fans can join them for a drink, a selfie and autograph, with the players also armed with gifts to giveaway to fans on Sunday afternoon.
The Robin Park Arena Fan Zone will be open from 12pm prior to the match and will be open until 7pm post-match. Fans will also be able to grab a picture with the Kenny-Sterling Shield that Wigan lifted in February 2018 in Wollongong, New South Wales after defeating Hull FC.
The distinctive trophy was named after Australian rugby league greats Brett Kenny and Peter Sterling, who met in the 1985 Challenge Cup final at Wembley - regarded as one of the greatest Cup finals of all time - with Kenny’s Wigan winning 28-24 over a Sterling-led Hull FC, and was created for the historic Betfred Super League clash in Australia in 2018.
Head of Events and Community, Martin McLoughlin, said: “Our Robin Park Arena Fan Zone has gone down very well with our fans judging by the feedback we’ve received at the Warrington and Toronto games, online and after engaging fan groups in recent weeks.
“As a way of thanks for our supporters continued support we’re delighted to announce that our players will be heading to the Robin Park Arena Fan Zone post-match to rub shoulders with our 18th man.
“I’d like to thank Adrian (Lam) and Sean (O’Loughlin) and the rest of the leadership team for their buy-in internally and we’d like to encourage our fans to stick around after the match to share a selfie and a drink with our players after what should be a great Super League clash between two of the league’s strongest teams.”
For the Fan Zone, Wigan great Andy Gregory will be on hand to welcome fans to the bar. First team players and the Warrior Cheerleaders will also be in attendance, so whether you want to grab a selfie or bag a signature, the Fan Zone is certainly worth the visit.
The Club have teamed up with local events company Central Fusion to ensure it’s the perfect place to soak up the matchday atmosphere before kick-off, and Wigan’s very own legendary skipper Sean O’Loughlin’s new business venture ‘Roaming Spirit’ will be on hand to serve Gin and Prosecco on the night too. The Club are also pleased to announce a new and improved price list for alcoholic beverages and encourages fans to drink responsibly.
