  • Born in Wigan, Umyla is the son of Wigan legend Ellery Hanley.
  • Started playing Rugby League when he was six-years-old for Shevington Sharks – up until he was 18 and signed for Wigan’s Scholarship system in 2016.
  • Was named the Under-16s Player of the Year in 2018.
  • Played one season in the Under-19s Academy where he won the Grand Final and was Wigan’s joint top scorer with 19 overall.
  • Made his first team debut for the Club in September 2020, starting at full back in a much-changed Wigan side who were defeated 0-42 by St Helens at the AJ Bell Stadium.
  • Hanley made 9 appearances for the Warriors in 2021 with a good spell in the early stages of the season, scoring 5 tries.
  • Hanley made 1 start for Wigan in 2022, though was a regular feature in the Reserves side who went unbeaten in 2022, lifting the Grand Final Trophy.
